What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a holistic approach to health based on more than 2,000 years of development and refinements in the Far East. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependant on the body’s motivating energy – known as Qi (Chee) – moving in a smooth and balanced way. Any trauma to mind, body or spirit can cause the flow of energy to become impeded, leading to discomfort and illness.
By inserting fine needles at specific points on the body, the body’s own healing response can be stimulated to restore and maintain health.
Acupuncture can benefit a wide spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses as well as playing an important role in the prevention of illness.
Many people come with a specific symptom or condition but the effect of good acupuncture is to do more than alleviate symptoms. Treatment will focus on the individual patient rather than the disease.
